Polly Grace {in pillow form!}

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen these, but it’s too cute not to share on the blog as well ๐Ÿ™‚ ย When I first received my copy of Love Patchwork & Quilting’s issue 37, I saw this awesome boxer dog mini quilt designed by Juliet (The Tartankiwi) andย just had to make one, pronto!

I made some tweaks to Juliet’sย pattern so that it would match our sweet boxer girl, Polly. ย I LOVE the background fabric against the brown. It makes a great contrast. ย The background fabric is the newspaper print by Carrie Bloomston.

For the quilting, I kept it simple and only quilted the background fabric with straight lines every 1/2″.

Once it was quilted, I decided to do a simple envelope back on the pillow. ย And as you can see below, I even cheated a bit and just used the selvage edge for the inside flap of the envelope ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Works for me (and the dog!).

And here’s the finished pillow next to Polly. ย Perfect match. ย (Note…not easy to get this girl to pose with a pillow!)

The quilt pattern finishes at 20″ square, which thankfully is a standard pillow form size.

And now this pillow is being well loved and used by Polly and the rest of the family.

Isn’t she the cutest?!?

  1. That is too adorable!! How are you doing with the Farmer’s Wife Quilt you started? Got me into doing it – i have 51 done so far — had to redo a couple of them.

  2. We had a boxer named Kansei (kansay) which means “Joy beyond expectation” in Japanese. She has been gone for 14 years, and not a day goes by that we don’t comment on how much we miss her. Great dogs for families. Jill in Calgary, Canada
