Remember the Succulent Shelf quilt I made last year using Heather Givan‘s amazing, first ever fabric line?!?! Well, I wasn’t the only one to adore these little plants and my friends over at Love Patchwork & Quilting asked me to create a few more to be put on cushions. Of course I was thrilled!
These “Sweet Succulents” are featured in Love Patchwork & Quilting‘s latest Issue 19 (it’s on newsstands now in the UK and will hit US stores in a few weeks). Of course you can always go online and buy a digital copy here (scroll to the bottom of the page for Digital editions).
Don’t you just love the styling they do for the photographs?! And the pops of neon on the flower pots are my favorite 🙂
To be honest with you, I was struggling with the design of one of these plants (Aloe, the one with the blue striped pot). As I was pulling my hair out at my computer, my (then 8 year old) son walked in. He says “move this here, and put that there, etc., etc. and BOOM it’s perfect! I almost cried because I was so happy 🙂 I’d say the boy has some talent. And check it out…his first design makes the cover! I’m sure I owe him royalties for this now…maybe I can pay him in frozen yogurt 🙂
One of the other AWESOME things about this issue is the free gift. Check out these adorable aqua/teal colored binding clips, love them! You can see the cushions in a little better detail below. I used the same straight line quilting on these succulents as I did the Succulent Shelf with my go-to Aurifil 50 wt. white thread.
And here is a peak at a few of the other gorgeous projects in this issue. You are going to want to pick up a copy for yourself, I promise (that EPP quilt on the cover by Karen Lewis makes my heart sing!).
And for those of you who have been anxiously awaiting the pattern for Succulent Shelf…the wait’s almost over. I promise it will be available before the end of the month.
And even more of you have been waiting to get your hands on the gorgeous Succulents fabric. It’s finally shipping to stores! You can get some for yourself at Crimson Tate in the store now or online probably by the weekend.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend,
