Cute and easy bow-tie

Happy Friday all!!!  I can’t believe it’s been a month since I last posted anything.  Summer sure has kept me busy 🙂  Today I’m sharing a fun little finish with you.  My son asked me to make him a bow tie to wear to church last Sunday, and honestly, how could I resist such a fun request?!?  So while he and my hubby were watching a movie on Saturday night I whipped up this cutie.

Didn’t it turn out great?  This fabric is one of my all time favorites and it is a DS Quilts print that I purchased at Jo-Ann’s a while ago.  I used this tutorial by Kelsey of Vanilla Joy.  And it really was fast and easy.  The thing that took the longest for me was turning the long strap that I made to fasten the tie right side out…3/4″ wide and about 18″ long fabric tube, not the simplest thing to turn, but I did it!

And here is my sweet boy proudly wearing it on Sunday morning 🙂  Makes a Mommy’s heart melt for sure!

  1. What a perfect bow tie and such a handsome model! You chose THE best fabric for this, Amanda! I remember when my son was about 3. He used to call it a tie bow! Yours turned out beautifully!

  2. Amanda – great job! I love the tie so much. Just a quick top if you do another one – since the seam is hidden, I usually do the strap that wraps around wrong sides together. That way you don’t even have to turn the thing!
