Happy Tuesday all! Over the holiday weekend I was able to make myself a new bag using these GORGEOUS Amy Butler Belle fabrics that have just been re-released. I have a serious crush on this fabric line and hope to have a number of these prints in the shop soon.
The pattern I used for this bag is The One Piece Bag by Fig Tree & Co. In the description, it says that you can make this bag in an afternoon and I was able to do that (I technically started in the morning and finished by late afternoon with a LOT of interruptions in the middle!)
I am not an experienced bag maker and have only tackled a few so far, but this pattern was clearly written and simple to understand. I didn’t really have any issues with the exception of my hidden magnetic snap. That was all my own fault for trying to sew at the same time my son was practicing his new magic tricks 😉
This is a very generous size bag and finished at approximately 13″ x 17″. In fact for this photo I put 2 beach towels inside and they fit perfectly without having any trouble closing the bag!
The pattern calls for fusible fleece interfacing for both the exterior and lining, however I choose to only interface the exterior (I was afraid it might be too “stiff” with both). If I make this bag again, I will most likely use the interfacing on both pieces as suggested. I also added a divided pocket on the lining. I always need a place for my phone and keys and hate to dig around in my bag when I need them.
I love the lining fabric just as much if not more than the exterior fabric and it was very difficult to decide which one to put on the outside! In the end I’m happy with my choice and happy with my bag.
What is your favorite fabric in the Belle line? Are there any other upcoming fabrics that you are anxiously awaiting?
Thanks for stopping by!
