Yay, it’s done! I finished my scrappy “many trips around the world” quilt this weekend. I have chosen to name it “Cherry Limeade” because that is what the colors make me think of when I look at this quilt.
I struggled with how to quilt this guy. Originally I wanted to do diagonal straight lines through all of the squares (crosshatch style), but given this is only my 5th quilt on the longarm…straight stitching and I weren’t working out too well just yet! Below is a photo that shows a little detail of the quilting before washing, along with my binding fabric.
When the Noteworthy “fly a kite” fabric arrived in my shop a week or two ago I instantly knew it would be perfect for the binding on this quilt.
The backing fabric is from a line called “Tinsel” by Maude Asbury for Blend fabrics. It is super soft and I love how it looks all quilted up.
When I was done with the binding, you can see that Polly seemed to think this was made just for her…doesn’t her expression crack you up?
The size of this quilt was 72″ x 72″ prior to quilting and washing. But since I did A LOT of quilting on this one, it shrunk up to 66″ x 68″ after it was washed. I love all of the texture and I’m only planning to use it on the couch to snuggle with, so it’s no problem that it got a little smaller
This makes finish number 4 for 2013!

where did you get the cute little tag “handmade by amanda”? I have been looking for some. Thanks The quilt is yummy I love your choices and quilting is great.
Your quilt is beautiful…such a happy combination of colors! And you’re right; that fabric is perfect for your binding! My 80-year-old mother used to quilt, but she always used plain white for a binding. She always comments on my colorful bindings and says that she wishes she had thought to do that!
Another great quilt. I love the colors and the pattern and the name fits. Cute picture of Polly.
